What to see and do

There’s so much to discover in the local area, we couldn’t even begin to list it all.
Here’s a short taster of what’s on offer…

Location map

Holme-next-the-sea

If you can tear yourself away from the beautiful beach (this region’s best-kept secret!) then there’s plenty to explore on your doorstep. A 15-minute walk from the cottage brings you to the village’s traditional pub, The White Horse, which offers delicious local delicacies, real ales and alfresco dining – with a large play area for the kids too. For keen (and leisurely!) walkers, you’ll be pleased to hear the village is where the ancient Peddars Way meets the North Norfolk Coastal Path. It is also easy to access lovely walks across the saltmarsh, the beach and Holme Dunes Nature Reserve.

Thornham

It’s a wonderful coastal walk, with stunning views, from the cottage across to the much-recommended The Lifeboat pub in Thornham, which serves truly delicious meals. In the same village there’s also a great deli (with cafe), children’s play area and Drove Orchards Farm Shop, pick your own, lifestyle shopping, fresh fish, and restaurants.

Hunstanton

The nearest supermarkets and main shopping areas are located in Hunstanton, just a 3-mile drive away (or a picturesque hour’s walk if you fancy the challenge). There’s a good selection of pubs, restaurants and cafes, along with lots of activities for the whole family – whether it’s the arcades, crazy golf or the fairground that you fancy.

Sandringham House

Sandringham is the much-loved country retreat of the royal family. You can spend hours exploring the extensive woodland trails, plus don’t forget the children’s adventure playground.

Norfolk Lavender

Definitely worth a trip out, this great place in Heacham offers beautiful lavender fields, farm shop, indoor play area, tea room and restaurant.
